Filip Krtička stresses the experientiality of literature in his teaching, the joy and the feedback loop of reading in which as one reads the book, the book reads one back, using the students’ reflections and reactions as stepping stones to a more critical investigation of literature. He has tended towards teaching for as long as he can remember, the proof of which is that besides literature and literary studies, he has been teaching English as a Foreign Language for 13 years and he also teaches dance (“swing”). He has been an Assistant Professor at the Department of English at UJEP since February 2024. He received his university education at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, including his PhD in 2022. Besides his studies in Prague, he spent one year at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts as a visiting research student thanks to the Fulbright Scholarship. His research interests, on which he has presented at various international conferences, include mainly the work of William Faulkner, literature of the US South, narratology, collective memory, cognitive approaches to literature originating in concepts such as theory of mind (mindreading/folk psychology), the 4e mind, as well as other concepts of embodied and cultural mind and brain.
