Martin Holland was born in Birmingham (UK) and raised in Cannock (UK). He was educated at Walsall College (UK); the University of Derby (UK); and UJEP (CZ), where – while also attaining his TEFL certification in England – he completed his Master’s degree and received the Graduate Award for an outstanding dissertation.
He has been a professional proofreader and copy editor for over ten years, and was previously a longtime contributor to the monthly UK music magazine Big Cheese. His first book of short stories and Polaroid photographs – I Should (But I Don’t Think I Will) Change the World – was published by UJEP in 2010 as the culmination of his Master’s studies. Many of his extensive archive of photographs have been exhibited in major cities worldwide, including London, New York, and Prague.
Having previously taught both photography and English at FUD UJEP (2010-2017) and a cultural module focused on modern Europe at FF UJEP (2011-2016) on a part-time basis, he has now been teaching practical language, British cultural studies, and academic and creative writing at PF UJEP for half a decade.
